Watchfree: Hollywood films and TV series with Korean, Hindi and Chinese cinema, from Dune and The Pitt to Parasite and Ip Man

In the summer of 2018 the Watchfree home page was bright and busy. An olive-green bar across the top held a long menu, Home, Genre, Country, Movies, TV Series, Cinema Movies, A-Z List, Release and Most Watched, and a green welcome box promised "a faster and better place" to find films. Below it, green headings in capitals introduced Suggestions, Latest Movies and Latest TV-Series, each with a row of small tabs, and a grid of posters eight across carried quality chips, green episode circles for series and titles in grey bars. Its Country menu reached far beyond Hollywood, to Korea, India, China and Hong Kong. Watchfree keeps that bright design and that wide view, and turns it into a guide: every film and series has its page, its story and a Watch now button that opens it on the official services in your country.

The Watchfree design

This Watchfree is rebuilt from the archived July 2018 capture of watchfree.movie. The page itself was archived in July, but its style sheet was stored only in an October copy from a sister address, which was measured instead. The colours are few and fresh: a white page, an olive green for the header, the headings, the tabs and the episode circles, a charcoal-grey for the quality chips, and a near-black slate for the footer. Headings use Open Sans in bold capitals, and the rest of the text uses Roboto.

It is a practical, friendly design. The green signals every clickable heading and tab, the eight-across grid shows many titles at a glance, and the chips on each poster tell you at once whether it is a film or a series.

The green header

The header is a solid olive-green bar that stays at the top of the page. On the left, the Watchfree wordmark sits beside a white play circle. On the right, the menu runs in light white letters: Home, Genre, Country, Movies, TV Series, Cinema Movies, A-Z List, Most Watched and My List, each underlined in white when you point at it. Genre and Country open small white panels with grey links, just as on the 2018 page: Genre lists Action, Comedy, Horror, Romance, Sci-Fi, Drama, Animation and Crime, and Country lists the United States, Korea, India, and China and Hong Kong. A white search field with the placeholder "Enter keywords here" completes the bar. On a phone, the menu folds behind a three-line button.

The welcome box

Under the header, a small green line invites visitors to save their favourites, and then comes the welcome box: a rounded green panel with the site's headline in white Open Sans and a short introduction beneath. It is the same green box the 2018 page used for its promise of a faster and better place, and it sits at the top of the home page so that newcomers know at once what Watchfree offers.

Sections and tabs

Each part of the home page opens with a green heading in capitals and, on the right, a grey View all button. Under several headings runs a row of small tabs, as in 2018. Suggestions has Recommended, Cinema Movies and Most Favorited; Latest Movies has All, Action, Comedy, Horror and Romance; Asian Movies has All, Korea, India, and China and Hong Kong. The first tab is highlighted in green, and the others open their full lists. The finding a title guide explains every route.

The poster grid

The posters sit eight across on a wide screen, six on a laptop, four on a tablet and three on a phone. Each film poster carries a small charcoal chip in its top right corner reading HD, and each series a green circle with the word Eps and the number of episodes in its latest season, just like the episode badges of 2018. Across the bottom of every poster runs a grey gradient bar with the title in white; point at a poster and the bar turns green while the image grows slightly. Suggestions shows sixteen of the most popular titles, Latest Movies sixteen of the newest films, Latest TV-Series eight series with the most recent episodes, and Asian Movies sixteen favourites from Korea, India, China and Hong Kong.

A title page

Every poster opens a title page with the poster, the title, the original title, the year, the running time, the genres and the story. A green Watch now button and a dark Add to My List button follow, and the viewing panel lets you choose your country before opening JustWatch. The facts grid lists the release date, original language, country and studio, and the cast follows, then related titles. A series page also lists every season, and each season page lists every episode with its air date and summary, with a button to mark the one you reached.

Hollywood films

The Movies list begins with Hollywood, seventy-three films from 2015 onward. The superhero shelf includes Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man: Far From Home, The Batman, Superman, Thunderbolts* and The Fantastic 4: First Steps, with Spider-Man: Brand New Day arriving in 2026. Science fiction has Blade Runner 2049, Dune, Dune: Part Two, Avatar: The Way of Water, Avatar: Fire and Ash and Project Hail Mary, and big adventures include Mad Max: Fury Road, Top Gun: Maverick, F1, Jurassic World Rebirth and Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning.

Awards favourites include Oppenheimer, Everything Everywhere All at Once, Joker, Hacksaw Ridge, Killers of the Flower Moon and Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood, and the newest arrivals include Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, Steven Spielberg's Disclosure Day and the biopic Michael. The movies guide has more ideas.

Family films

Family viewing has a full shelf. KPop Demon Hunters became a worldwide phenomenon with its animated girl group who fight demons with song, The Wild Robot follows a robot who raises a gosling, and Zootopia 2, Moana 2, Inside Out, Inside Out 2, Coco, Toy Story 4 and Frozen II continue much-loved stories. Game fans have The Super Mario Bros. Movie, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and A Minecraft Movie, and How to Train Your Dragon returns in live action. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and Puss in Boots: The Last Wish are animated favourites for older children and adults alike.

Horror and thrillers

The Horror collection keeps the scares coming. Weapons opens with a whole class of children vanishing on the same night, Sinners mixes vampire horror with the blues of 1930s Mississippi, The Conjuring 2 follows the Warrens to a haunted London house, and Backrooms and Lee Cronin's The Mummy brought new scares in 2026. From Korea, Train to Busan, Peninsula, The Wailing, Exhuma and Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum add some of the best horror of recent years, and #Alive traps a young gamer in his flat during an outbreak.

TV series

The TV Series list holds thirty-three English-language shows, each with every season and episode. The Pitt follows a Pittsburgh emergency department hour by hour, Slow Horses a department of disgraced British spies, and MobLand and The Gentlemen London's underworld. Better Call Saul, Yellowstone, This Is Us and Stranger Things are the big dramas, and Silo, FROM, The Expanse and The 100 are the science-fiction mysteries. The procedurals, The Rookie, 9-1-1, FBI, Chicago P.D., Chicago Med, S.W.A.T. and SEAL Team, bring a case every week, and Reacher and Lioness bring action. The Latest TV-Series grid on the home page shows the series with the most recent episodes, each with its green episode circle. The TV series guide sorts them further.

Heroes and space on TV

Superhero and science-fiction fans have their own corner of the list: The Flash, Supergirl and DC's Legends of Tomorrow from the Arrowverse, Loki from Marvel, Lucifer with its devilish detective, and Star Trek: Discovery and The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power for epic adventures. Ted Lasso, Young Sheldon and Scorpion add lighter moments, and The Good Doctor follows a gifted young surgeon.

Asian movies

The Country menu of the 2018 page reached across Asia, and Watchfree keeps that spirit with an Asian Movies shelf of sixty-six films: Korean cinema, Hindi films, and Mandarin and Cantonese films from mainland China and Hong Kong. Most stream in their original language with subtitles in many languages, and a good number also have English dubs. The Asian movies guide offers a tour.

Korea

Korean cinema is more popular abroad than ever. Bong Joon Ho's Parasite, the story of a poor family who slip into the lives of a wealthy one, became the first film in a language other than English to win the Academy Award for Best Picture, and his earlier Snowpiercer sets the last survivors of a frozen world aboard a speeding train. Park Chan-wook's Decision to Leave is an elegant detective romance, and his 2025 film follows a laid-off paper-mill manager in a dark satire of the job market. Yeon Sang-ho made the zombie classic Train to Busan, its sequel Peninsula, and the 2026 thriller Colony.

The Korean shelf also includes some of the best horror of recent years: The Wailing, a slow-burning village mystery, Exhuma, in which a shaman and a feng shui master uncover a family's buried secret, and Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum, a found-footage night in an abandoned hospital. The Gangster, the Cop, the Devil and Badland Hunters let Don Lee punch his way through villains, Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds follows a firefighter through the trials of the afterlife, The Great Flood is a disaster thriller, and 20th Century Girl is a gentle 1999 romance. The Korean films guide has more.

India

The Hindi shelf gathers some of the biggest films of recent years. Dangal tells the true story of a wrestler who trains his daughters into champions, 12th Fail follows a young man's struggle to become a police officer, and PK sends a curious visitor from another planet to question everything he sees in India. Andhadhun is a twisty thriller about a pianist, The Lunchbox a tender story of letters in Mumbai, and Bajrangi Bhaijaan the story of a man who walks a little girl home across the border. For action, Pathaan, Jawan, War, Fighter, Sooryavanshi and KILL deliver big spectacle, and Dhurandhar and Saiyaara were two of the most talked-about films of 2025.

The Ip Man saga

The Ip Man films are the heart of the Hong Kong shelf. Donnie Yen plays the Wing Chun master in Ip Man, set in 1930s Foshan and wartime occupation, Ip Man 2, where he opens a school in Hong Kong and faces a Western boxer, Ip Man 3, with a famous duel against Mike Tyson's character, and Ip Man 4: The Finale, which takes him to San Francisco. Master Z: Ip Man Legacy follows one of his rivals, and The Legend Is Born: Ip Man and Ip Man: The Final Fight tell the master's youth and later years with other actors. Watched in order, the saga makes a superb martial-arts weekend. The martial arts guide suggests the order.

Hong Kong action

Hong Kong action has a proud tradition, and several of its best recent films are here. Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In recreates the Kowloon Walled City of the 1980s for a spectacular gang battle, Raging Fire pits Donnie Yen's honest cop against his former protégé, and Legend of the Fist: The Return of Chen Zhen brings back a legendary hero in 1920s Shanghai. Jackie Chan leads Chinese Zodiac, a globe-trotting treasure hunt, Shinjuku Incident, a darker drama about an immigrant in Tokyo, Vanguard, Panda Plan and The Shadow's Edge, and Johnnie To's Drug War is a taut police thriller. Bodyguards and Assassins follows the men who protected Sun Yat-sen in 1905 Hong Kong.

Chinese cinema

Mandarin-language cinema has grown into one of the biggest in the world. Ne Zha and Ne Zha 2 retell a classic myth in animation, and the second became the highest-grossing animated film of all time. The Wandering Earth and The Wandering Earth II imagine humanity moving the Earth itself away from a dying Sun, and Creation of the Gods I: Kingdom of Storms brings an ancient fantasy novel to the screen on an epic scale. John Woo's Red Cliff recreates a great battle of the Three Kingdoms, Let the Bullets Fly is a witty Western-style comedy, and Wong Kar-wai's The Grandmaster is a beautiful meditation on martial arts.

Stephen Chow's comedies have a devoted following: CJ7 follows a poor father and son who find an alien toy, Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons reimagines the classic legend, and The Mermaid became one of the biggest hits in Chinese history. The Legend of Hei is a gentle animated fantasy about a cat spirit, New Gods: Nezha Reborn brings the Ne Zha legend into a modern city, and Better Days is a moving drama about a bullied student and her protector.

How Watch now works

Watch now connects Watchfree to the services that hold each title. Open a film or series page, choose your country in the viewing panel, from the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia to India, the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, South Korea, Indonesia, South Africa, Nigeria, Ireland and New Zealand, and press the green Watch now button. Watchfree opens the title on JustWatch, an independent guide that lists every official service offering it in that country, by subscription, rental, purchase or free with adverts. Choose one, and the title opens in that service's app or website. Watchfree remembers your country for next time, and the how to watch guide walks through the steps.

Where the titles stream

Hollywood films and series stream mostly on Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, Max, Apple TV, Hulu, Paramount+ and Peacock, depending on the country. Asian films often have their own homes: Korean films on Netflix and regional services, Hindi films on Netflix, Prime Video, JioHotstar and ZEE5, and Chinese and Hong Kong films on Netflix, Prime Video and specialist services such as iQIYI. Rental stores such as Apple TV, Google TV and Prime Video rent and sell many of them. JustWatch shows the current options for your country. The services page gives an overview.

Subtitles and dubs

Asian films stream in Korean, Hindi, Mandarin or Cantonese with subtitles in many languages, and many also offer an English dub. Hollywood films usually include several audio tracks. The language menu in the player, usually a speech-bubble icon, switches audio and subtitles at any moment, and most apps let you resize subtitles and add a background. Watching in the original language with subtitles is a lovely way to hear the actors' own voices, from Song Kang-ho in Parasite to Donnie Yen in Ip Man. The audio, subtitles and quality guide covers each device.

Phones, TVs and consoles

Watchfree works in every browser, and adding it to your phone's home screen makes it open like an app. Films and series play in the official apps of each service, installed from Google Play, the App Store or your television's store. Fire TV, Google TV, Apple TV, Roku, PlayStation, Xbox and nearly every smart TV run those apps, and Chromecast or AirPlay send the picture from your phone to the TV. The apps and devices page covers each option.

HD and 4K

The HD chip on each film poster echoes the quality chips of the 2018 grid, and today nearly everything streams in high definition. Many titles, from Dune: Part Two and Avatar: Fire and Ash to Ne Zha 2 and The Wandering Earth II, are also available in 4K with HDR on premium plans. Plan on about 5 Mbps for smooth HD and 15 to 25 Mbps for 4K, and on mobile data choose a lighter quality in the app settings.

Free, legal options

Many films can be watched free and legally. Tubi, Pluto TV and the Roku Channel stream films and series with adverts in many countries, and some studios publish older Asian films on their official channels. On each title page, the Watch now panel lists free options beside the paid ones for your country. The free movies page lists the main services.

My List

My List is the Watchfree watchlist. Press Add to My List on any title page, and the title is saved in this browser, visible to you alone. On a season page, mark the episode you reached, and My List keeps your place in every series you follow. Export writes your list to a small file, and Import restores it on another device. The My List page explains each button.

Most favorited

The Most Favorited tab opens the titles scored 7.9 or more out of 10 by at least a thousand viewers. Among the films are Parasite, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, The Wild Robot, Oppenheimer, Dune: Part Two, Top Gun: Maverick, Coco and Dangal; among the series, Better Call Saul, Stranger Things, The Rookie and Silo. Open Most favorited for the full list.

Ideas for a movie night

For a martial-arts night, pair Ip Man with Ip Man 2. For a Korean thriller evening, Parasite and then Decision to Leave. For a Bollywood night, Dangal or Bajrangi Bhaijaan. For science fiction from two continents, Dune followed by The Wandering Earth. For the family, Ne Zha or KPop Demon Hunters, and for a scary night in, Train to Busan followed by Exhuma.

Recognising Watchfree

Watchfree is easy to recognise: an olive-green header bar with the Watchfree wordmark, a menu with Genre and Country drop-downs and a white search field, a green welcome box, green headings in capitals with tab chips and grey View all buttons, and grids of posters with charcoal HD chips, green episode circles and grey title bars. Bookmark the home page and add it to your phone's home screen. The official site page describes these details, and the site status page helps when a page is slow.

Safe streaming

A few habits keep streaming safe. Install apps only from Google Play, the App Store or your TV's own store, keep your devices updated, and give each service its own strong password with two-step sign-in switched on. Before you pay or sign in, check that the address bar shows the service's real name. Watchfree sends you to JustWatch, and JustWatch sends you to the official services, so each step stays on trusted ground. The streaming safely page has a short checklist.

Privacy

Watchfree keeps your data in your own browser. My List, your episode marks and your chosen country stay on your device, ready to clear at any time or move with Export and Import. Posters, stories, cast and episode details come from TMDB, and the viewing options come from JustWatch.

How the catalogue is chosen

The catalogue follows the 2018 menus. Hollywood films from 2015 onward and English-language series from 2014 onward come first, chosen from the titles with the largest audiences on TMDB and checked by hand. The Country menu adds Korean, Hindi, Chinese and Hong Kong films from the last two decades. The 2018 grid also listed reality shows and some explicit titles; Watchfree focuses on films and scripted series for a general audience and leaves those to other places.

A short history of Watchfree

The Watchfree name has appeared at several addresses over the years, including watchfree.to, watchfree.ac and watchfree.movie. The archived July 2018 page at watchfree.movie shows the design this site keeps: the olive-green header, the welcome box, the green headings and tabs, and the eight-across grid with its chips. Watchfree today keeps that look and sends every title to the official services, in HD, with subtitles or dubs, on every screen.

A first visit

On a first visit, look at the Suggestions grid, then scroll to Latest Movies and Asian Movies. Open a poster that catches your eye, choose your country and press Watch now to see where it streams. Try the Country menu for films from Korea, India, China and Hong Kong, add a few titles to My List, and pin Watchfree to your home screen.

Stars across continents

Watchfree's catalogue spans several film industries, and its stars are just as varied. Donnie Yen leads the Ip Man films, Raging Fire and Legend of the Fist: The Return of Chen Zhen, and Jackie Chan leads Chinese Zodiac, Shinjuku Incident, Vanguard, Panda Plan and The Shadow's Edge. Don Lee brings his famous fists to The Gangster, the Cop, the Devil and Badland Hunters, and Song Kang-ho stars in Parasite and Snowpiercer. Shah Rukh Khan leads Pathaan, Jawan and Chennai Express, and Aamir Khan leads Dangal and PK. Type any name into the search field, and every title featuring that star appears.

Directors to follow

Several great directors are well represented. Bong Joon Ho made Snowpiercer and Parasite, Park Chan-wook made Decision to Leave, and Yeon Sang-ho made Train to Busan, Peninsula and Colony. Stephen Chow made CJ7, Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons and The Mermaid, Wilson Yip directed four of the Ip Man films, and Frant Gwo made both Wandering Earth films. In Hollywood, Christopher Nolan made Oppenheimer and The Odyssey, Denis Villeneuve made Blade Runner 2049, Dune and Dune: Part Two, and James Gunn made Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, The Suicide Squad and Superman.

Korea's zombie films

Korean cinema has made the zombie film its own. Train to Busan trapped a father, his daughter and a carriage of strangers on a speeding train during an outbreak and became a global hit. Peninsula returns to the same world four years later, #Alive follows a young man trapped in his apartment with only his phone for company, and Colony, from the director of Train to Busan, brings a new outbreak in 2026. Watched together, they show how inventive Korean filmmakers have been with a familiar idea.

Myths and fantasy from China

Chinese cinema has turned its classic myths and novels into spectacular films. The Ne Zha films follow a mischievous boy born of a demon pearl, with animation that rivals anything from Hollywood; New Gods: Nezha Reborn imagines the same hero reborn as a modern deliveryman. Creation of the Gods I: Kingdom of Storms adapts the fantasy classic Fengshen Yanyi, Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons retells the famous journey with Stephen Chow's comic touch, and The Legend of Hei follows a small cat spirit searching for a new home. These films are a wonderful introduction to Chinese storytelling.

Songs and spectacle from India

Hindi films bring song, dance and emotion to every genre. Chennai Express sends a Mumbai man on a comic detour through Tamil Nadu, Happy New Year stages a dance-competition heist in Dubai, and Dear Zindagi is a gentle conversation about life and therapy. Saiyaara became the romantic hit of 2025 with its love songs, and the action films, from War to Fighter, come with spectacular set pieces and memorable music. Most Hindi films on the major services have English subtitles, and many offer other Indian languages too.

Marvel and DC

The superhero films on Watchfree can be followed in order. Marvel runs from Avengers: Age of Ultron and Captain America: Civil War through Spider-Man: Homecoming, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame to Spider-Man: Far From Home, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Thunderbolts* and The Fantastic 4: First Steps. Sony adds Kraven the Hunter, and DC has The Suicide Squad, The Batman and Superman. The animated Spider-Verse films stand among the most inventive of them all.

Science fiction from two worlds

Science fiction is one of the richest threads on Watchfree, and it comes from both Hollywood and China. Dune and Dune: Part Two bring Frank Herbert's desert planet to life, Blade Runner 2049 expands a classic, and Project Hail Mary sends a lone teacher into space to save the Sun. The Wandering Earth and The Wandering Earth II imagine humanity fitting the planet with giant engines to escape a dying Sun, and Snowpiercer keeps the last survivors on a train that circles a frozen world. Avatar: Fire and Ash and Predator: Badlands add alien worlds of their own.

Action

Action fans can travel the world. John Wick: Chapter 4 stages elaborate fights across three continents, Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning closes Ethan Hunt's long mission, and The Beekeeper and Wrath of Man give Jason Statham two revenge stories. From Asia, KILL sets a commando against robbers on a night train, The Furious gathers martial-arts stars from across Asia in 2026, Raging Fire ends with one of the best action finales of its decade, and Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In turns a legendary Hong Kong neighbourhood into a battleground.

A week with Watchfree

Here is one way to spend a week with Watchfree. On Monday, start The Pitt. On Tuesday, watch Parasite. On Wednesday, try Ip Man. On Thursday, choose 12th Fail. On Friday, invite friends for Dune: Part Two. On Saturday, enjoy Ne Zha 2 with the family, and on Sunday, turn the lights down for Exhuma. Add each title to My List and tick them off as the week goes on.

Reading the scores

Every title page shows a TMDB score out of ten and the number of ratings behind it. Hollywood films often gather tens of thousands of ratings, while many Asian films are rated by a smaller, passionate international audience, so their scores can move more over time. A high score with many ratings, like Parasite or Coco, signals a film that pleases almost everyone. Use the score as a friendly signpost and trust your own taste.

For younger viewers

For younger viewers, KPop Demon Hunters, Zootopia 2, Moana 2, Toy Story 4, Frozen II and The Wild Robot are safe and joyful choices, and The Legend of Hei and CJ7 bring Chinese animation and comedy for children. Older children often enjoy the Ne Zha films, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and the Spider-Man films. Check the certificate on each streaming service before pressing play.

Series: the procedurals

The procedurals are the easiest series to dip into. The Rookie follows a man who joins the Los Angeles police in his forties, 9-1-1 follows first responders through spectacular emergencies, and FBI follows agents in New York. Chicago P.D. and Chicago Med share a city with frequent crossovers, S.W.A.T. and SEAL Team bring tactical action, and Scorpion recruits a team of geniuses. Each series has every season and episode listed, with air dates and summaries, so starting at any point is easy.

Series: the big stories

For longer stories, Better Call Saul tells how a small-time lawyer became Saul Goodman, Yellowstone follows a ranching family defending its land, and This Is Us moves between decades in the life of one family. Stranger Things follows friends in a small town full of secrets, Silo and FROM are mysteries about places people struggle to leave, and The Expanse imagines a solar system on the brink of war. The Pitt and Slow Horses are two of the most acclaimed new series of recent years.

Watching together

Watchfree's mix of Hollywood and Asian cinema is perfect for shared evenings. Families can choose between Ne Zha and Zootopia 2, friends can plan a martial-arts marathon or a Korean horror night, and couples can settle in for 20th Century Girl or Saiyaara. Most streaming apps offer separate profiles, and My List can be exported from one device and imported on another so everyone knows what is next.

Worth watching again

Some films reward a second viewing. Parasite plants its clues in the architecture of the Park family's house, Decision to Leave reveals new layers once you know its ending, and Andhadhun plays fair with every twist. The Grandmaster rewards close attention to its images, and Everything Everywhere All at Once gains depth once you know where it is heading.

Sharing a title

Every Watchfree page has a clean, stable address, so sharing is as simple as copying the link and sending it on. The link opens the same page, with its poster, story and Watch now button, and your friend can choose their own country to see where the title streams for them. It is an easy way to introduce a friend to Korean, Hindi or Hong Kong cinema.

Slower connections

Watchfree is designed to be light: posters are compressed, pages load quickly, and the home page shows the most useful grids first. On the streaming services, a lower quality setting keeps playback smooth on mobile data, and downloading a film over Wi-Fi is a good idea before a journey. The quality guide explains the settings.

Cinema at home

A few touches make an evening at home feel like a trip to the cinema. Dim the lights, switch the television to its film picture mode, and turn off motion smoothing so films keep their natural look. Use a soundbar or good headphones for spectacles such as Dune: Part Two, The Wandering Earth II or Red Cliff, and choose the 4K version where your plan and connection allow.

Latest arrivals

The grids on the home page refresh as new films arrive and new episodes air, and the Cinema movies page lists every film from 2024 onward with filters for genre and language. It is the quickest way to see what has arrived since your last visit.

History on screen

Several films on Watchfree bring history to life on a grand scale. John Woo's Red Cliff recreates the naval battle of 208 AD that decided the fate of the Three Kingdoms, Bodyguards and Assassins follows the men who guarded Sun Yat-sen through one tense day in 1905 Hong Kong, and Creation of the Gods I: Kingdom of Storms reaches back to the legends of the Shang dynasty. From Hollywood, Oppenheimer follows the making of the atomic bomb, Hacksaw Ridge tells the story of a medic on Okinawa, and Killers of the Flower Moon recounts the Osage murders of the 1920s.

True stories from India

Some of the most moving Hindi films are based on real lives. Dangal follows the wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat, who trained his daughters Geeta and Babita into world-class champions, and it became one of the highest-grossing Indian films ever, including a huge success in China. 12th Fail tells the story of Manoj Kumar Sharma, who rose from a village in Chambal to become a police officer through sheer persistence. Both are ideal family films with a message that stays with you.

Comedy from East and West

Comedy travels well on Watchfree. Let the Bullets Fly is a witty tale of an outlaw who poses as a county governor, CJ7 and The Mermaid showcase Stephen Chow's gift for slapstick with heart, and Chennai Express and Happy New Year bring Bollywood's playful side. From Hollywood, Ted Lasso and Young Sheldon keep the laughs going on television, and A Minecraft Movie and The Super Mario Bros. Movie bring games to life with a wink.

Korean fantasy and drama

Korean cinema is famous for its thrillers, but it has a gentler side too. Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds follows a firefighter through seven trials in the afterlife, guided by three guardians, and became one of the biggest hits in Korean history. 20th Century Girl is a warm romance set in 1999, when a teenager spies on a boy for her best friend and falls for his friend instead. The Witch: Part 1. The Subversion follows a girl with a forgotten past and surprising powers.

Learning languages with films

Films are a wonderful way to hear other languages. Watching a Korean, Hindi or Mandarin film with subtitles in your own language helps you connect everyday phrases to their meaning, and rewatching a favourite makes the dialogue easier each time. Comedies and family films such as 20th Century Girl, Dear Zindagi or The Legend of Hei use natural, everyday speech, while historical epics such as Red Cliff use richer, more formal language.

Browsing by release

The 2018 menu had a Release list for browsing by year, and Watchfree's search page does the same: open it from the header and filter by year, genre, language and score, or sort by date to see the newest titles first. The Cinema movies collection follows the films from 2024 onward, and the Latest Movies grid on the home page always shows the newest releases.

Jackie Chan on Watchfree

Jackie Chan has entertained audiences around the world for more than half a century, and several of his films are here. Chinese Zodiac sends him on a globe-trotting hunt for twelve bronze heads, with stunts he designed himself, and Shinjuku Incident shows his dramatic side as a Chinese immigrant in Tokyo. Vanguard follows a private security team on a rescue mission, Panda Plan turns a baby panda into the centre of a comic caper, with Chan playing himself, and The Shadow's Edge casts him as a veteran surveillance expert in Macau. They make a fun marathon that shows how his style has changed over the years.

Donnie Yen on Watchfree

Donnie Yen is one of the great martial artists of the screen. Beyond the four Ip Man films, he plays a hero returning to fight the occupation in Legend of the Fist: The Return of Chen Zhen and a principled police officer in Raging Fire, directed by Benny Chan. His fight choreography, fast, precise and full of character, is a highlight of every film, and watching the Ip Man series in order shows how his portrayal of the quiet master deepened over a decade.

Korean horror in depth

Korean horror has a style all its own, mixing folk beliefs with modern life. The Wailing follows a village policeman as a mysterious sickness spreads after a stranger arrives, building dread over two and a half hours. Exhuma follows a shaman, a feng shui expert and an undertaker who move a grave and awaken something within it, and it became one of the biggest hits of 2024 in Korea. Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum follows the crew of a web series streaming live from an abandoned hospital. They are best watched with the lights low.

Choosing what to watch

With films from several industries side by side, a few questions help. Hollywood spectacle or something from further afield? The Country menu separates them clearly. A film for one evening or a series for a few weeks? The Movies and TV Series lists keep them apart. How did audiences react? The score on each title page, with the number of ratings behind it, shows how widely a title was enjoyed. And when in doubt, the Suggestions grid on the home page gathers the most popular titles of the moment.

The Wandering Earth films

The Wandering Earth and The Wandering Earth II are among the most ambitious science-fiction films ever made in China. Adapted from a story by Liu Cixin, the author of The Three-Body Problem, they imagine a future in which the Sun is dying and humanity builds thousands of enormous engines to push the Earth out of the solar system. The second film, a prequel, tells how the plan began, with Wu Jing and Andy Lau leading a huge cast. Both are spectacular on a big screen and make a thrilling double bill for science-fiction fans.

Stephen Chow's comedies

Stephen Chow is one of the most beloved comic filmmakers in Asia, known for mixing slapstick, special effects and warmth. CJ7 follows a poor construction worker and his son, who adopt a strange little creature from outer space, Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons reinvents the story of the monk Tang Sanzang as a demon-hunting comedy, and The Mermaid pits a property tycoon against the mermaids whose home he threatens. Each is funny, surprising and full of heart, and together they make a lively evening for the whole family.

The Ne Zha phenomenon

Ne Zha arrived in 2019 as a fresh, funny retelling of the legend of a boy born with demonic powers who decides his own fate, and it became a huge hit in China. Its sequel, Ne Zha 2, went further still in 2025, with dazzling animation, an epic battle between gods and dragons and a warm story of friendship between Ne Zha and the dragon prince Ao Bing. It became the highest-grossing animated film ever made. Both are ideal for families, and they show how far Chinese animation has come.
